Inaugurating the expansion of Bahrain’s sea port infrastructure
A multi-million dinar investment in Bahrain’s ports infrastructure saw the opening of the new Shaikh Khalifa Port in Hidd.

A multi-million-dinar investment in Bahrain’s ports infrastructure saw the opening of the new Shaikh Khalifa Port in Hidd. The 46-year-old operations at Mina Salman Port restricted expansion and the facility was no longer in scale with modern shipping requirements. The new facility offers deep draft berthage for the significantly larger vessels of the 21st century and enjoys a new, seamless motorway link to the lucrative markets of Saudi Arabia, providing potential for robust growth in transhipping services to the northern Gulf markets.

Working with Bahrain’s General Organisation of Sea Ports, We created two commemorative books for the initiative. The first, entitled “Bahrain Ports, Past Present and Future” is a text heavy, researched volume discussing the wider macroeconomics of Gulf shipping, the history of Mina Salman and with detailed chapters covering Bahrain’s maritime services infrastructure, logistics zones, industrial areas, and airports. The second, “Tribute to the Two Seas”, is a commemorative pictorial book, provided to guests to mark the official opening of the new Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman deep-water port.
